POSITION: LOGISTICS DISPATCHER X 1
Wideway International based in Kitwe, Kamfinsa area along the Kitwe-Ndola dual-carriage way seeks the services of a qualified and experienced Logistics Dispatcher to join the Logistics Department. The successful candidate will be responsible for coordinating drivers, monitoring GPS locations, adjusting ETAs, updating customers, solving routing issues, and ensuring every load moves on schedule.
Core Responsibilities
1. Routing & Real-Time Coordination
- Assigning loads to drivers and creating optimized routes
- Adjusting ETAs based on traffic, weather, or delays and re-routing drivers’ mid-route
- Balancing fleet capacity and coordinating pickups and drop-offs
2. Driver & Customer Communication
- Giving drivers clear instructions and handling check-ins and location updates
- Managing customer expectations and notifying recipients of delays or early arrivals
- Maintaining calm communication during emergencies and logging call notes and events
3. Monitoring, Tracking & Issue Response
- Tracking vehicle locations using GPS dashboards and ensuring adherence to routes
- Watching for breakdowns or exceptions and responding to unexpected route issues
- Coordinating tow trucks or backup drivers and communicating incidents to customers as well as management.
4. Documentation & System Updates
- Recording proof-of-delivery notes
- Logging delays and exceptions and updating internal dashboards
- Maintaining load histories and sending internal reports
Requirements & Qualifications
Experience: Minimum 2-4 years proven hands-on experience as a Logistics Dispatcher in a Transport and Logistics Company.
Qualification: Grade 12 School Certificate, Diploma in Information Technology or relevant qualification
Drivers Licence: Valid Driver’s Licence.
Work Ethic: Excellent communication skills, Teamwork, strong problem-solving skills, excellent time-management and people skills.
