Accountant – Feed Manufacturing Company

Job description

DuCorp is seeking an experienced and qualified Accountant/Finance Manager to oversee the company’s financial management, accounting operations, tax compliance, budgeting, cost control, inventory management and financial reporting.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
• Manage day-to-day finance and accounting operations.
• Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements and management reports.
• Monitor accounts payable, accounts receivable, bank reconciliations and general-ledger activities.
• Develop and monitor manufacturing and product costs, including cost per metric tonne of finished feed.
• Analyse raw-material costs, production costs, manufacturing overheads and production variances.
• Monitor raw materials, packaging materials and finished-goods inventories.
• Coordinate stock counts and investigate inventory variances.
• Establish and maintain effective financial and internal-control procedures.
• Monitor procurement costs and conduct cost and variance analysis.
• Ensure timely tax filings and statutory compliance.
• Liaise with the Zambia Revenue Authority on tax matters, audits and compliance.
• Ensure compliance with VAT, PAYE, Withholding Tax, Income Tax and other Zambian tax requirements.
• Implement and maintain compliance with ZRA Smart Invoice requirements.
• Coordinate internal and external audits.
• Provide financial analysis and recommendations to senior management.
• Monitor profitability, margins, working capital and financial performance.
• Supervise and develop the finance team.
• Maintain the accuracy and integrity of financial data in the ERP/accounting system.

MANDATORY QUALIFICATIONS
• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce or a related field.
• At least one recognised professional accounting qualification: CA Zambia/ZICA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent.
• ZICA membership is required/preferred for Zambian candidates, subject to professional requirements.
• Qualifications obtained outside Zambia may require ZAQA recognition.

PREFERRED CERTIFICATIONS
• Full ACCA, CIMA or CA Zambia qualification.
• Membership of a recognised professional accounting body.
• IFRS training or certification.
• Training in Zambian taxation or ZRA compliance.
• ERP certification or strong practical ERP experience.
• Advanced Excel or financial-modelling certification.

EXPERIENCE
• Minimum five to eight years of relevant finance and accounting experience.
• At least three years in a supervisory, Finance Manager or Financial Controller role.
• Manufacturing, feed production, food processing, agriculture or FMCG experience is highly preferred.
• Manufacturing cost-accounting and inventory-management experience preferred.
• Practical experience dealing with ZRA, VAT, PAYE, Withholding Tax and tax audits.
• ERP/accounting-system experience.
• Budgeting, forecasting, financial analysis and cash-flow-management experience.

SKILLS
Strong knowledge of manufacturing cost accounting, inventory accounting and stock control, product costing, financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, cash-flow management, VAT and Zambian tax compliance, ZRA Smart Invoice, IFRS, internal controls, audit management, ERP systems, advanced Excel, financial analysis and management reporting. Strong analytical, leadership, communication, integrity and deadline-management skills.
