Position: Welder

Job Purpose:

To carry out welding, metal fabrication, and repair activities in accordance with technical specifications, quality standards, and workplace safety procedures to support the reliable operation of plant equipment and structures.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

• Perform welding activities on metal components, plant machinery, structural parts, and processing equipment as assigned.
• Select appropriate welding processes (Arc, MIG, TIG) and equipment for different job requirements.
• Prepare metal surfaces, clean joints, and position components accurately before welding.
• Operate welding machines, oxy-acetylene cutting torches, grinders, and workshop fabrication tools safely.
• Work closely with mechanical fitters, fabrication personnel, engineers, and supervisors to complete maintenance tasks.
• Comply strictly with hot-work procedures, permit-to-work protocols, and proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).

Minimum Qualifications and Experience:

• Full Grade 12 Certificate.
• Trade Certificate in Metal Fabrication / Welding from a recognized institution (e.g., TEVETA).
• Minimum of three (3) years’ practical welding experience in a workshop, industrial, or manufacturing environment.
• Sound knowledge of welding equipment, metallurgical materials, and workshop safety procedures.
• Familiarity with multiple welding techniques and ability to read engineering drawings.
