Key Responsibilities

• Oversee and monitor flock health across rearing, pullet, and commercial layer units to optimize production and welfare.
• Formulate, execute, and monitor comprehensive poultry vaccination programmes and medication schedules.
• Implement, enforce, and audit stringent on-farm biosecurity protocols and disease prevention measures.
• Perform routine daily flock inspections, blood sampling, microbiological monitoring, and post-mortem examinations to identify pathology and health trends early.
• Maintain comprehensive veterinary records, mortality tracking, treatment logs, and compliance documentation.
• Manage veterinary dispensary stocks, medical supplies, vaccines, and equipment inventories.
• Work closely with farm management and nutritionists to optimize flock growth, feed efficiency, and egg output.
• Train and guide farm attendants and stockmen on humane poultry handling, hygiene, and biosecurity best practices.

Qualifications and Requirements

• Full Grade 12 School Certificate.
• Degree in Veterinary Medicine (BVM / BVSc) or equivalent qualification in Veterinary Science from a recognised university.
• Valid registration with the Veterinary Association of Zambia (VAZ) / Veterinary Council of Zambia (VCZ) with a valid practising licence.
• Fresh graduates are encouraged to apply ; prior exposure to commercial poultry production is an added advantage.
• Sound clinical knowledge of poultry pathology, avian immunology, epidemiology, and biosecurity.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
• Strong diagnostic, analytical, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Willingness to reside and work on-site in Baluba, Luanshya.
