Role Overview
The Field Operations Engineer will play a critical role in overseeing daily field operations related to the installation, commissioning, and maintenance of elevator systems. This position demands strong leadership to manage field technicians and subcontractors, ensuring projects are completed safely, on schedule, and to the highest standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise installation, commissioning, and servicing of elevators and escalators at various client sites
- Conduct site surveys and measurements, and prepare detailed field reports
- Diagnose and repair electrical and mechanical faults on elevator systems
- Manage and coordinate field technicians and subcontractors effectively
- Ensure strict compliance with safety regulations and quality assurance standards
- Prepare daily progress reports, material requisitions, and job completion certificates
- Maintain communication with clients, main contractors, and suppliers
- Oversee inventory management of critical spare parts and tools
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electromechanical Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering
- At least five years of practical experience in elevator installation and maintenance
- Registration with the Engineering Institution of Zambia (EIZ) and possession of a valid practicing certificate
- Comprehensive knowledge of elevator control systems, including VVVF drives and safety circuits
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and mechanical drawings accurately
- Willingness to work at heights, during weekends, and respond to on-call breakdowns
