Job Title: Electrical Engineer
Project: Ilute 33MW Solar PV Plant
Location: Sesheke, Western Province, Zambia
Employment Type: Full-Time

Job Description:

We are seeking a qualified Electrical Engineer to join our team on the Ilute 33MW Solar PV Plant project in Sesheke, Zambia. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing, maintaining, and troubleshooting electrical systems associated with utility-scale solar photovoltaic generation.

Key Responsibilities:

• Manage, operate, and maintain solar PV plant electrical infrastructure, including central/string inverters, power transformers, medium/high voltage (MV/HV) switchgear, DC/AC collection systems, and SCADA monitoring systems.
• Conduct routine inspections, preventive maintenance, and fault diagnosis on electrical equipment to ensure maximum plant uptime and energy yield.
• Ensure all electrical installation, testing, and commissioning activities comply with engineering standards, project specifications, and local safety codes.
• Coordinate with Chinese engineering and management teams, facilitating smooth technical communication and project execution.
• Maintain comprehensive maintenance logs, incident reports, and compliance documentation.
• Enforce strict adherence to Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) standards across all electrical operations.

Candidate Requirements:

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related technical discipline.
• Experience: Minimum of five (5) years of professional experience in electrical engineering, with hands-on experience working in a utility-scale solar PV power plant.
• Professional Registration: Fully registered member of the Engineering Institution of Zambia (EIZ) with a valid practicing certificate.
• Credential Verification: Mandatory educational credential evaluation and verification by the Zambia Qualifications Authority (ZAQA).
• Multicultural Experience: Proven working experience collaborating effectively with Chinese engineering, construction, or management teams.
• References: Possess traceable professional references from previous employers or senior project managers.
