JOB DETAILS:
1. Provide counselling to child clients and families
2. Collect data about clients through assessments, case history, psychological tests, and/or observational techniques; evaluate data to identify causes of problems and to determine proper therapeutic approach or referral to other specialists.
3. Provide casework management of specialized caseloads
4. Provide and/or arrange for therapeutic interventions as appropriate for clients with serious disturbance or mental illnesses.
5. Make regular follow ups with clients to determine effectiveness of interventions used; make recommendations regarding modification to services and service delivery.
6. Network and build relationships with other organisations providing social support services
7. Consult with other therapists and related professional staff, as appropriate, in the performance of therapeutic and/or casework; refer clients to appropriate services within the organisation as required.
8. Presenting/assisting in workshops.
9. Perform miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

CANDIDATE SPECIFICATION
1. Competent computer skills in MS Office
2. Excellent communication and reporting skills
3. Excellent interpersonal skills
4. Knowledge of case management.
5. Knowledge and understanding of clinical counselling principles, programs and methodology.
6. Interviewing and psychological/developmental evaluation skills.
7. Knowledge and understanding of mental health and mental illnesses
8. Ability to evaluate the progress of therapeutic programs and to make individual modifications.
9. Ability to maintain emotional stability to cope with human suffering, emergencies, and other stresses.
10. Knowledge of psychological test administration, scoring, and interpretation.
11. Knowledge of legal and ethical issues related to patients’ rights.
12. The ability to work with minimal supervision
13. The ability to work in, and adapt to, challenging environments
14. Experience working with vulnerable children and youth
15. An approachable style of working with others to achieve successful outcomes
16. Preparedness to work outside normal working hours when required.

Minimum Qualifications
1. Bachelor’s Degree in Counselling/ Psychology, Social Work, or any related field from an accredited institution
2. At least 1 year of directly related experience which may include internship and/or practicum
3. Fluent in English and Nyanja, additional local languages an advantage
4. Candidate must be willing to travel outside of Lusaka
5. Initial contract will run for 6 months.
