The Zambia Metrology Agency (ZMA), a statutory body under the Ministry of Commerce, Trade and Industry, is inviting applications from suitably qualified and interested candidates to fill the following vacant positions. The requirements are stipulated below.
1.0 LEGAL METROLOGIST (5)
JOB PURPOSE:
To undertake the provision of quality legal metrology services to industry and the public in order to ensure compliance to set standards for fair trade, consumer protection, safety, health and Environmental Management.
KEY RESULT AREA
PRINCIPLE ACCOUNTABILITIES (MAIN DUTIES)
Measurement Standards Maintenance
Ensures safe keeping and proper usage of station working standards in order to maintain accuracy of measuring instruments and standards.
Type Approval and Control
Undertake timely type approval of weighing and measuring instruments used in commercial transactions, law enforcement and management of health, safety, and environment in order to achieve conformity to national regulations.
Instrument Compliance
Undertakes effectively, the statutory verifications of weighing and measuring instruments used in commercial transactions, law enforcement and management of health safety and environment in order to ensure compliance to set regulations for fair trade, consumer protection, safety, health, and Environmental Management.
Inspections
Undertakes effectively the statutory inspections of pre-packaged commodities and measuring instruments in order to enforce regulations for fair trade, consumer protection, safety, health, and Environmental Management
Examination and Licensing
Undertakes effectively the assessment of Technicians and Institutions involved in manufacturing, repair, installation, maintenance, and sale of all regulated measuring instruments, measures, and artifacts in order to facilitate licensing
QUALIFICATIONS
- Full Form V/Grade 12 Certificate
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or Equivalent

2.0 ASSISTANT PROCUREMENT OFFICER – SUPPLIES (STORES ASSISTANT)
PURPOSE OF THE JOB:
To undertake the storage and distribution of goods in order to meet end-user requirements and facilitate the smooth operation of the Agency.
a) Minimum Primary/Secondary Education:
- Full-Form V/Grade 12 Certificate
b) Minimum Vocational/Professional Qualification:
- Diploma in Purchasing and Supply (CIPS) or equivalent
- Membership to the Zambia Institute of Purchasing and Supply
KEY RESULT AREA
PRINCIPLE ACCOUNTABILITIES (MAIN DUTIES)
Stores
- Receiving, moving and checking incoming goods, and effectively undertake the storage and distribution of goods in order to meet end user requirements and facilitate smooth operation of the Agency
- Checking and inspecting goods received and ensuring they are of accurate quality, type and quantity.
- Properly display items in easy to locate manner.
Inventory
Properly maintain inventory record on re-order levels.
Management
- Maintain the Stores area neat and sanitized. Effectively handle items and products in a store.
- Packing and labelling products before they are dispatched
Reporting
- Undertakes timely reporting on storage and distribution of goods in order to facilitate decision making.
- Proving stock level reports, reports on fast moving items and departments usage for decision making
3.0 SALES AND MARKETING OFFICER
JOB PURPOSE
To undertake the marketing of Zambia Metrology Agency’s Services to the industry in order to promote the uptake of voluntary metrology services.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Full-Form 5/Grade 12 Certificate
- Diploma in Marketing or equivalent
KEY RESULT AREA
PRINCIPLE ACCOUNTABILITIES (MAIN DUTIES)
Marketing Plans
Undertakes effectively the development and implementation of marketing plans in order to encourage industry to utilize the Agency’s services.
Research
Undertakes periodically the conduct of research in order to facilitate the design. development and pricing of services that satisfy different segments of the market
Marketing Events
Undertakes effectively planning and organizing of marketing events, public meetings and conferences in order to create awareness about the Agency’s services.
4.0 TRANSPORT OFFICER
Purpose of the Job: To manage an appropriate and cost-effective fleet Management services of ZMA to optimize the use of transport resources.
KEY RESULT AREA
PRINCIPLE ACCOUNTABILITIES (MAIN DUTIES)
Record Keeping and Reporting
- Maintain an up-to-date database of all the ZMA vehicles
- Ensure all drivers have the appropriate Class and valid Licences
- Ensure vehicles are used in accordance with the institution’s policy and that vehicle usage data is always correctly recorded in the vehide logbook
- Maintain proper inventory of all components of vehicles, making sure they are maintained and checked frequently
- Submitting regular and comprehensive monthly transport reports to the supervisor on vehide movements, fuel usage and maintenance costs.
- Assist in investigating motor vehicle accidents and provide comprehensive reports to management
Vehicle Monitoring
- Manage the day-to-day movements of vehides on official duties
- Ensure observance of all road safety standards
- Conducting regular inspection of administrative and pool vehicles
Vehicles serving and repairs
- Prepare servicing requisitions for all vehides before undertaking any repair works.
- Track repairs and costs as part of monitoring and overseeing the repair processes
- Maintain good working relationship with vehicles repair shops, liaising with them regularly to ensure vehicles repairs are appropriate and done on time Tracking all fuel maintenance costs.
Management
- Advising on recruitment of new drivers and testing of driver candidates in traffic rules, signage, signalling and practical
- Act as occasional driver in the absence of regular drivers to cover for institutional errands Implement performance management system for Drivers as per ZMA Policy
- Perform any other related duties when required
QUALIFICATIONS
- Full Form V/Grade 12 Certificate
- Driving license PSV
- Certificate in Mechanics
- A Diploma in Mechanics or its equivalent will be an added advantage
Minimum Relevant Pre-Job Experience:
- 2 years
