The Bible Society of Zambia (BSZ) is a nonprofit, faith-based organization registered under the Societies Act Cap 119 of the Laws of Zambia. It was formed to fulfill the great commission of our Lord Jesus Christ. The organization's principal purpose is to translate, publish, and distribute the Bible at a price people can afford. In interpreting its vision, BSZ has translated the Bible into projects such as Voice of the Young Samaritan an HIV/AIDS response by the Church, Literacy program, and Tree of Life, Trees of Life project- a Church's response to Climate change among other projects. Recently, BSZ began implementation of the African Biblical Leadership Initiative - ABLI -Zambia. ABLI- Zambia is a project which seeks to engage African leaders with the scriptures, and to position the Bible more centrally in the African public square, so as to aid in the positive transformation of African societies. ABLI hosts a 3 day ABLI Forum which facilitates discussions on the wisdom, insight and guidance that the Bible can offer leaders in the context of African leadership challenges. BSZ will host the ABLI forum in October this year.
To that end, BSZ will seek to employee an ABLI Project Officer with the following competencies and characteristics:
Key Characteristics:
• A mature Christian-of good standing in her/his Church, proven by a letter of reference from their church.
• People skills.
• A thorough knowledge of the BSZ will be an added advantage.
Key Competencies:
• Traceable experiences in project coordination and management.
• Proven competencies in public speaking or better still demonstrable Public Relations skills.
• Proven experiences in organizing international conferences or demonstrable events management skills.
• Excellent demonstrable writing skills of reports, minutes and others.
• A good appreciation of the broad landscape of development in Zambia and internationally.
Academic Requirements:
• At a minimum must possess a degree in project management or development studies or other relevant qualifications from reputable universities.
• Must be computer literate and comfortable with the use of Microsoft Offices package and related IT packages.
• Must have at least six years of traceable reference
