Role Overview:

Choppies Supermarkets is seeking an energetic, friendly, and hardworking Sales Floor Assistant to join our retail floor team at the Makeni Bonaventure branch in Lusaka. The primary goal is to provide efficient, high-quality customer service, maintain neat displays, and drive customer retention.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide excellent customer service, answering customer questions politely and helping shoppers locate products.
• Maintain a clean, organized, fully stocked, and visually appealing supermarket sales floor.
• Restock shelves, gondolas, end-caps, and product displays from backroom inventory as needed.
• Actively support store sales goals, promotional campaigns, and special price discount setups.
• Work collaboratively with team members to ensure a positive, enjoyable shopping experience for all patrons.
• Regularly check for and immediately remove expired, damaged, or torn merchandise from shelves.
• Select and place goods neatly on shelves, monitoring stock levels to prevent gaps.
• Replenish stock-outs promptly following proper stock handling guidelines.
• Receive, inspect, and store goods in designated storage areas.
• Prepare, prepack, and merchandise stock following FIFO (First In, First Out) principles.
• Ensure all company damages and expiration procedures are adequately followed and documented.

Education & Experience:

• High school diploma (Full Grade 12 Certificate) or equivalent.
• Food handlers’ certification & food production certification.
• 1–2 years of proven experience in retail product merchandising or supermarket shelf packing.
• Basic knowledge of supermarket sales floor routines and shelf arrangement.
• Good communication and problem-solving skills.
• Physical fitness, ability to lift stock, and ability to work at heights (using stepladders).
• Candidate should be medically fit.

• Ability to perform efficiently in a fast-paced retail environment.
• Must be able to stay calm, focused, and cheerful under pressure.
• Strong interpersonal and team-working skills.
• Supervisory skills — ability to train colleagues to use time efficiently and uphold service standards.
• Physical Exam Required: Medical Report & Police Clearance.
