Position: Electrician

Job Purpose:

To install, inspect, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair electrical equipment, power systems, and plant installations to support safe, reliable, and uninterrupted manufacturing operations.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

• Install, maintain, and repair electrical machinery, industrial wiring, control panels, electric motors, lighting, and power distribution systems.
• Diagnose electrical faults rapidly using appropriate testing instruments, multimeters, and approved troubleshooting techniques.
• Carry out preventive and corrective electrical maintenance in accordance with maintenance schedules and work orders.
• Inspect electrical components for defects, insulation breakdown, overheating, loose connections, and potential electrical hazards.
• Assist in the maintenance and overhaul of AC/DC electric motors, variable speed drives (VFDs), distribution boards, and switchgear.
• Test electrical installations and machinery following repairs or new installations to verify safe and optimal operation.
• Collaborate with mechanical fitters, automation engineers, and production teams to resolve equipment issues.
• Apply approved electrical isolation and lockout/tagout (LOTO) procedures strictly before working on equipment.
• Ensure all electrical work complies with company procedures, Zambian wiring standards, and occupational health and safety rules.

Minimum Qualifications and Experience:

• Minimum Craft Certificate in Electrical Engineering (TEVETA Level 4 or recognized equivalent).
• Minimum of two (2) years’ practical experience in industrial electrical installation, maintenance, and fault diagnosis.
• Industrial or manufacturing plant experience is highly desirable.
• Valid membership with the Engineering Institution of Zambia (EIZ) is an added advantage.
• Strong commitment to high safety standards and clean workmanship.
