The Radiographer performs diagnostic imaging examinations, ensuring safety and quality for patients.
Responsibilities or duties
- Imaging Procedures: Perform X-rays, ultrasounds, CT scans, and other diagnostic imaging procedures as prescribed by clinicians.
- Patient Preparation: Prepare and explain procedures to patients, ensuring they understand the process and are positioned correctly for imaging.
- Radiation Safety: Ensure radiation safety protocols are followed for patients, staff, and self, using appropriate protective equipment.
- Image Processing: Process and evaluate images for quality, ensuring adequate clinical information is provided for medical interpretation.
- Equipment Maintenance: Maintain radiology equipment, ensuring it is clean, functional, and properly calibrated.
- Record Keeping: Maintain accurate radiology records, including patient details, imaging parameters, and image storage.
- Quality Assurance: Participate in quality assurance programs to ensure high standards of imaging and reporting.
- Collaboration: Work closely with clinicians and other healthcare professionals to ensure accurate diagnosis and treatment.
Qualifications or requirements (e.g., education, skills)
Diploma or Degree in Radiography, valid practicing license, and relevant clinical experience.
