Background
The Occupational Health Nurse promotes and maintains the health, safety, and well-being of employees within the workplace.
Responsibilities
- Health Assessments: Conduct pre-employment, periodic, and exit medical examinations for employees.
- Workplace Health Promotion: Develop and implement health promotion and wellness programs, including health education and disease prevention initiatives.
- Injury and Illness Management: Provide first aid and emergency care for workplace injuries and illnesses, and coordinate referrals to external healthcare facilities.
- Occupational Health Surveillance: Monitor and assess workplace health hazards, and conduct health surveillance for employees exposed to occupational risks.
- Record Keeping: Maintain accurate and confidential employee health records, including medical histories, examination results, and immunization records.
- Compliance: Ensure compliance with occupational health and safety regulations and company policies.
- Health Education: Educate employees on workplace safety, ergonomics, and healthy lifestyle practices.
- Collaboration: Work closely with the safety department, human resources, and management on health-related matters.
- Fitness for Duty: Assess employees' fitness for duty and make recommendations regarding work restrictions or accommodations.
Qualifications
Diploma or Degree in Nursing, additional training in Occupational Health, valid practicing license, and relevant experience.
