About the job

We are looking for a chief Executive Officer for a renowned independent not-for-profit organization whose mission is designed to incentivize investment in innovation that changes the way that market systems work to create new growth opportunities for MSMEs.

Reporting to the Board of Directors, the CEO will have overall responsibility of leading and managing a diverse, qualified and experienced team

 

Responsibilities

  • Determine the strategic direction of the organization as guided by the Board through development and implementation of a Board approved strategy
  • Lead engagement with key stakeholders and be accountable to the company’s Board of Directors
  • Ensure appropriate management structures, resources, skills and capacity of the team to deliver on the organizations vision, mission and strategy
  • Ensure achievement of the organization’s strategy and objectives through effective and efficient programme delivery
  • Ensure and rigorous programme evaluation including value for money. This must include effective systems to track progress and regularly evaluate programme interventions, adjusting work as necessary to maximize value for money and impact.
  • Ensure consistently high quality operational management to support project delivery, including finance and administration, communications, information management, and other relevant systems
  • Oversee the development and effective implementation of the Sustainability Plan
  • Monitor performance against defined corporate sustainability metrics
  • Actively seek and engage potential funders and strategic partners to ensure funding is consistently available to implement organizational strategy
  • Ensure all requisite internal systems are developed and staff capacity is built for managing multiple projects
  • Ensure adequate resourcing of the organization, effective cash flow management, and accountability for assets
  • Ensure strategies to attract, retain, motivate, and develop high caliber staff that is dedicated to delivering outstanding performance

Must Have:

  • Masters degree in Economics, Business Administration, International Development, Finance, or related discipline from a reputable institution
  • At least ten (10) years of relevant professional experience in a similar space
  • At least five (5) years of Executive leadership experience
  • Experience in managing donor-funded programmes related to private sector development
  • A clear understanding of developing investments and businesses in Africa / Developing Countries
  • Experience working with investors, business leaders and with senior government officials
  • Robust and agile leadership acumen cutting across private sector development interventions
