Role Overview:

Choppies Supermarkets is seeking an organized, analytical, and honest Stock Controller to join our team at the Makeni Bonaventure branch in Lusaka. The primary goal is to oversee retail stock levels, prevent stock-outs, and ensure quality customer retention and service.

Key Responsibilities:

• Forecast supply and demand trends to prevent overstocking and running out-of-stock (OOS).
• Enter accurate purchase details (vendor information, invoices, and pricing) into internal ERP/stock management databases.
• Place store orders to replenish merchandise and dry/fresh goods as needed.
• Track supplier shipments and resolve any dispatch or transit delays promptly.
• Oversee warehouse and storeroom storage of retail products, particularly fragile and temperature-sensitive items.
• Evaluate suppliers’ offers and negotiate cost-effective purchase arrangements.
• Coordinate regular inventory stock-counts and variance audits.
• Liaise with warehouse and internal teams to test and inspect product quality upon delivery and storage.
• Keep updated inventory records, including daily shipments, stock transfers, and write-offs.
• Ensure purchases and stock orders do not exceed approved store budgets.

Education & Experience:

• Grade 12 School Certificate.
• Computer certificate or Diploma in Computer Studies.
• Diploma in Purchasing and Supply (CIPS) is an added advantage.
• 1–2 years of proven experience in stock management or warehouse inventory.
• Basic knowledge in data analysis and retail stock-taking.
• Good communication and problem-solving skills.
• Physical fitness and candidate should be medically fit.

Skills, Abilities & Requirements:

• Basic math and numerical analytical skills.
• Basic knowledge in computer skills (highly proficient in Microsoft Excel).
• High level of honesty, integrity, and trustworthiness.
• Age requirement — usually 18+ in Zambia.
• Physical Exam Required: Medical Report & Police Clearance.
