Job description
Mulonga Water Supply and Sanitation Company Limited provides water and sanitation services in Chingola, Mufulira and Chililabombwe and is inviting applications from suitably qualified candidates.
PURPOSE OF THE JOB
Plan and direct the operations of water transmission and distribution facilities and related infrastructure to provide quality water-supply services at agreed service levels.
MAIN ACCOUNTABILITIES
• Plan efficient operation of transmission and distribution facilities across the division.
• Plan valve-maintenance programmes and water-network activities.
• Work with the Engineer – NRW on pipe-replacement plans.
• Ensure network information is captured in GIS and updated regularly.
• Maintain agreed daily water-supply hours in line with service-level agreements and guarantees.
• Enforce standard operating procedures for transmission and distribution networks.
• Develop network standards.
• Plan cleaning and servicing of trunk mains by high-pressure flushing.
• Facilitate replacement of old lines to improve service delivery.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS
• Grade 12 School Certificate with five O-Level passes.
• Bachelor’s Degree in Civil or Water Engineering.
• Member of the Engineering Institution of Zambia and registered with the Engineering Registration Board.
• Minimum five years’ post-qualification experience in a similar role.
• Strong understanding of water-distribution-network management.
• Ability to plan emergency responses for transmission and distribution networks.
• Proficiency in GIS, surveying and AutoCAD.
• Ability to drive a manual motor vehicle.
