Job description:

PURPOSE

Responsible for managing and supervising the dust suppression team in the execution of tasks and projects in the pit and other areas on the mine site to meet the approved safety and quality specifications/standards.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Supervise and facilitate the maintenance of all bituminous haul roads within the pit.
• Ensure all areas of the pit are sufficiently suppressed from dust at all times by appropriately scheduling all water trucks and mobile brooms.
• Ensure all machines are in good working conditions and availability and utilization targets are met.
• Ensure daily checklists are conducted and all operator’s permits are valid.
• Coordinate the transportation of all dust suppression personnel to and from the work areas.
• Coordinate the delivery of SS60 Bitumen emulsion and all dust suppression reagents to the mine.
• Record and account for all usage of dust suppression reagents.
• Design, install, maintain and replace all traffic signage within both pits and ensure all safety cones are stored and dispatched safely and accordingly.
• Ensure the safe installation of delineators within both pits and ensure an appropriate length is consistently kept between them.
• Adhere to all mining regulations such as logbook entries.
• Convey instructions to the PIC on the daily activities to be conducted.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Grade 12 Certificate
• Certificate or Diploma in Civil / Mining Engineering from a recognized institution
• Drivers License
• Valid Blasting License

EXPERIENCE

• Minimum 3 years’ experience in Roads, Earthworks and Drainage Construction Basic survey, levelling and drainage experience required.
• Model Maker experience would be an advantage
• Waste dump construction and control experience will be an advantage
• Comfortable working with Heavy equipment machinery
• Knowledge of mining rules and regulations
• Proven track record of supervising and managing people
