Title :  Software Engineer

Type : Full-time

Location:  Lusaka

Estimated salary :  ZMK84,000.00 – ZMK132,000.00 a year . Final offer amounts are determined by multiple factors, including prior experience, expertise & may vary from these amounts.

Qualifications

Required (Must have) :

• Full-stack developer able to communicate in English
• PHP
• MySQL
• Conversant with: Laravel and Codelgniter frameworks
• Bachelor’s degree or any academic qualification is an added advantage but not a mandatory requirement
• Must be at least nineteen (19) years or above

Nice to have (Added advantage) :

• JavaScript development

Full Job Description

Perform the following job duties: Analyze enterprise user needs and software requirements; Design, develop and modify enterprise software systems; Develop software system testing and validation procedures, programming; Evaluate information on factors such as reporting formats to suit enterprise needs; Technology used involves Database Management Software, Development Environment Software, Object/Component Oriented Development Software, Program Testing Software, Web Platform Development Software; May perform some or all of above tasks depending on scope of each project assignment or task; Work may involve travel to various unanticipated client sites, usually across Zambia.

What We Need :

The Whence Financial Services team is driven to build great Fintech apps and to work within a fast-paced agile structure to release them. An ideal candidate has had some professional experience building apps, is a self-starter, and passionate about both the systems development life cycle as well as new developments in the Fintech ecosystem.

What You’ll Do:

Responsibilities:

• To consult with internal business groups to provide high-level application software development services or technical support.
• Use knowledge on the user-side frontend of a website, as well as the backend, server-side that powers the user-side.
• Provide comprehensive senior-level technical consulting to management
• Evaluate compliance with the organization’s technology standards.
• Program well-designed, testable, and efficient code.
• Analyze, design, and develop tests and test-automation suites.
• Develop flowcharts, layouts, and documentation to satisfy requirements and solutions.
• Maintain software functionality and currency, including technical debt and gain.
• Participate in code reviews.
• Integrate software components into a fully functional software system.
• Apply security and privacy principles.
• Work with internal business groups on implementation opportunities, challenges, and requirements of various applications.
• Analyze information and provide recommendations to address and resolve business issues for a specific business group.
• Guide and consult management regarding use of emerging technologies and associated services.
• Participate in defining corporate implementation and integration strategies of new technologies.
• Stay abreast of emerging technologies.
• Advocate for innovative and creative technology solutions.
