Job Purpose & Scope The Management Information Officer will through use of computer-based applications, compile, model, validate, Analyse, and study data and data trends aimed at revealing ways to track and discover potential improvement areas that will ultimately help to effectively drive and boast the performance of the business through focused Strategic planning and well-informed Business development decisions.

The job holder will directly report to the Deputy Manager – Management Information and Analytics.

The role will also involve performing some Actuarial valuations runs and IBNR calculations for the Group Business.

Principal Accountabilities:
  1. Management Information (MI) Reports (50% – Weight)
    • Manage the production of MI and the production of performance management data   base
    • Production of a monthly analysis designed to show information on progress against   short term plan and business objectives
    • Analyse data relating to existing business, segmentation and draw appropriate conclusions
    • Ensure adherence to high levels of data integrity and that performance information relating to the business is correct and always accurate
    • Preparation of Monthly Approved Health Claims reports
    • Preparing Monthly Actuarial Reports required for determination of Loss Ratio status
    • Tracking and compilation of exceeded Benefit reports
    • Preparation of Smart Daily usage report
    • Preparation of Groups sale MI
    • Covid 19 Claims reporting
  1. Client Information Reports (25% Weight)
    • Preparation of Monthly utilization reports and timely notification to Scheme Administrators for all Insurance schemes.
  • Attend to all queries concerning benefit utilization on all Insurance schemes
  • Attend to all queries concerning scheme performance reports and exceeded reports on all scheme (MCAS & Insurance)
  • Cooperate with Claims Investigator helpdesk when complaints occurred
  • Ensure prompt actions are done to avoid prolonged complaints.
  1. Record Retention
  • Ensure all MI documentation soft and hard copy relating to scheme are and kept securely on the network and corresponding physical file.
  1. Data Analysis and Actuarial valuations (20% Weight)
  • Scheme data analysis as required by either clients, department or Management.
  • Monitor trend consistence and recommend interventions as necessary.
  • Performing some Actuarial valuations runs and IBNR calculations
  • IFRS17 implementation task.

 

Core Competences Required: Management Information Officer is responsible for analyzing, compiling, and validating crucial Organization data as such must have the following competences.

  • Proficient in the use of computers and programs that specialize in data collection.
  • Excellent IT skills and competent user of Excel, Power Point and MS Office suite.
  • Research and Analytical skills with excellent attention to detail.
  • Ability to work with limited supervision with impeccable sense of judgement.
  • Excellent Communication & Interpersonal skills with special attention to timelines.
  • Ability to work under pressure, creative, resourceful with independent mind
  • Results driven with excellent planning and organisation of activities over a varied time scale with ability to juggle priorities based on value at stake.
  • Experience in data collation, analysis and presentation.
  • Understanding of Value Based Management and management accounts.
  • Experience in forward planning and anticipation of future requests / priorities.
  • A learning mindset to rapidly assimilate complex business issues and quickly solve problems in a structured manner or pre-empting issues that may arise where there is limited precedence:
Experience, Knowledge & Skills
  • Bachelor’s degree in Actuarial Science or Management Information Systems, Economics or any other related field.
  • Insurance Products knowledge, especially Group business will be an added advantage
  • Excellent IT skills and competent user of Excel, Power Point and MS Office suite
  • Ability to manage multiple assignments, as well as meet time constraints and expectations.
  • Capability to prepare accurate monthly status reports, and aid in corporate projects that deal with the company’s core business
  • Multitasking and problem-solving acumen with a working knowledge of data analysis tools will be very beneficial
  • Ability to make/take calculated decisions and to think forward and act accordingly.
