Knight Piésold is a global consulting engineering firm providing specialist engineering and environmental services. In Southern Africa, we operate across Zambia, Botswana, South Africa, Namibia, Botswana, eSwatini, DRC, Lesotho, and Madagascar.

We are seeking a proactive HR Officer to join our Zambia team and provide comprehensive support to our Zambia and Botswana operations, with the opportunity to support other Southern African countries.

This is a hands-on role, and ideal for someone who enjoys working closely with managers, employees and takes ownership of HR processes. You are comfortable operating across different countries, cultures and employment environments. You will work closely with the Group HR Manager and the wider Southern Africa HR team, while taking day-to-day responsibilities for HR delivery in your assigned countries.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide full employee lifecycle support (recruitment, onboarding, employee development, performance management, employee relations, and exits) for Zambia and Botswana.
  • Ensure compliance with country labour laws. Advise on policy application and update staff handbook procedures accordingly.
  • Partner with managers to provide practical HR advice and support on people-related matters.
  • Coordinate training and skills development plans. Manage learning records and support career development initiatives.
  • Administer employee benefits (e.g., medical, pension, insurance, leave) and serve as local point of contact with service provider.
  • Maintain accurate HR administration and HRIS data. Prepare regular HR metrics and reports for Group HR Manager and Country Manager to support decision-making.
  • Support and sometimes lead HR projects (mentorship, skills transfer, employee wellness, performance management) and change initiatives, with support from Group HR Manager /Talent Manager and Senior HR Business Partner.
  • Manage recruitment partners and other HR vendors and ensure strong candidates and employee experience.
  • Promote effective communication and engagement across teams and offices.
  • Travel to Botswana and other regional offices as required.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources or industrial psychology.
  • Professional membership (e.g. ZIHRM) is an advantage.
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience as an HR Officer or similar generalist role, with proven experience in recruitment, training and skills development, employee benefits administration, and HR administration.
  • Solid knowledge of Zambian labour law.
  • Experience working in Botswana or other SADC countries is highly desirable.
  • Proficiency with MS Office and HRIS systems.
  • Eligible to work in Zambia.
  • Valid driver’s license and passport.
