Overview
Exciting opportunity for an Ecologist who is passionate about Zambian wildlife, conservation principles, and flora and fauna to take up a permanent position in this beautiful Conservancy. You will need to have worked in a similar position for AT LEAST 5 years, have an MSc in Ecology or similar. Need to be open minded, a good planner and great Managerial ability.
- Gain an understanding of the interaction between soils, vegetation, fire and large mammals
- Implement best fire management practices
- Understanding seasonal wildlife movements
- Organising and completing aerial game counts
- Understanding current large herbivore biomass
- Mapping of fires, wildlife movements, roads, land degradation etc
- Landscape management
- Landscape rehabilitation
- Vegetation rehabilitation
- Management of collared animals, tsetse fly control and invasive alien plant control
- Managing respective staff and contracts / payroll and overtime claims
- Drawing up and managing annual budget / departmental procurement
- Annual planning / Gantt chart
- Team leadership
- OPERATE QGIS very well
