Role Overview:

Choppies Supermarkets is seeking an enthusiastic, honest, and customer-focused Cashier (Till Operator) to join our team at the Makeni Bonaventure branch in Lusaka. The primary goal is to provide efficient, high-quality customer service and customer retention.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide efficient, pleasant, and quality customer retention and checkout service.
• Ensure the till drawer contains the correct amount of cash float at the beginning and end of shift after all points of sale are processed.
• Scan each merchandise item, determine the total for combined purchases including tax and minus valid coupons, and scan barcodes to verify pricing.
• Accept cash, cheque, or credit/debit card payments accurately and furnish appropriate change and receipts.
• Balance cash drawers and transfer collected money safely to the safe/cash office.
• Handle routine customer service inquiries and refer complex issues to store management.
• Greet customers pleasantly when entering or leaving the retail establishment to ensure customer satisfaction.

Education & Experience:

• High school diploma (Full Grade 12 Certificate) or equivalent.
• 1–2 years of experience as a retail supermarket cashier or till operator.
• Good communication and problem-solving skills.
• Physical fitness and ability to stand for long periods.
• Candidate should be medically fit.
• Basic computer skills — using modern Point of Sale (POS) systems.

Skills, Abilities & Requirements:

• Basic mathematics and numeracy skills.
• Strong customer care and interpersonal skills.
• High integrity, honesty, and trustworthiness in handling cash.
• Age requirement — usually 18+ in Zambia for handling money.
• Physical Exam Required: Medical Report & Police Clearance.
