Lusaka Integrated Solid Waste Management Company (LISWMC) is inviting applications from suitably qualified, creative and self-driven candidates for the position of Legal Officer – Prosecution.

JOB PURPOSE
To provide legal support to the Office of Legal Counsel, manage dockets, attend court, and maintain case records for enforcement matters under the supervision of the Legal Counsel.

MAIN DUTIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES
• Provide day-to-day legal and administrative support, including contract review, procurement-related legal input and regulatory correspondence.
• Assist in drafting and reviewing contracts, memoranda of understanding, notices and other legal instruments.
• Support compliance monitoring across procurement, environmental and statutory obligations.
• Prepare and manage prosecution files, dockets, witness lists and case records under the Solid Waste Regulation and Management Act, 2018 and related legislation.
• Attend the Subordinate Courts and, where duly appointed or gazetted as a Public Prosecutor, conduct prosecutions for assigned matters.
• Liaise with inspectors, enforcement officers and the Zambia Police on evidence, notices and enforcement correspondence.
• Maintain accurate legal and prosecution registers and prepare reporting materials for the Director of Public Prosecutions or National Prosecution Authority through the Legal Counsel.
• Support enforcement training and the development of standard legal and prosecution templates.
• Perform other legal duties assigned by the Legal Counsel, Company Secretary or management.
REQUIREMENTS
• Full Grade 12 School Certificate or equivalent.
• Bachelor of Laws (LLB) Degree.
• Advocate of the High Court of Zambia.
• Member of the Law Association of Zambia with a current practising certificate.
• At least four years of post-qualification experience in a legal, compliance, enforcement or prosecution environment.
• Appointment or eligibility for appointment as a Public Prosecutor, and experience in local authority, environmental or public-sector legal practice, will be an added advantage.

• High integrity, confidentiality and sound professional judgment.
• Ability to manage competing legal, compliance and enforcement priorities.
• Good report-writing and stakeholder communication skills.
• Ability to work under pressure.
• Good working knowledge of contract law, regulatory compliance and court procedure.
• Computer literacy and accurate legal record management.
• Tact and diplomacy.
