Group Financial Manager

Overview

Group Financial Manager – Zambia (GFMZ)
KPI’s
? Plan and prepare annual external audits to ensure audits are signed off within agreed
timeframes
? Ensure accurate and timeous submission of cash flow results and forecasts in line with
Group requirements
? Manage Working Capital at optimal levels to preserve cash flow
? Ensure timeous project reporting in line with the Group Guidelines
? Ensure accurate and up to date financial results are reported on a monthly basis according
to the month-end schedule
Functions and Tasks
Secretarial and Statutory
? Identify a suitable individual / company to take over all Secretarial and Statutory
responsibilities on behalf of all Zambian companies.
? Provide clear instructions to chosen individual / company on any required changes.
? Ensure all secretarial and statutory requirements in terms of the Zambian Companies Act are
adhered to, including returns to be submitted and payments to be made
? Ensure Board Meetings are scheduled and minutes of meetings are filed
Policies and Procedures
? Implement the Group approved financial policies and procedures and provide necessary
training to all applicable employees
? Ensure compliance to the policies and procedures implemented
? Identify and implement site specific policies and procedures to address specific needs for
each operation or project
? Implement applicable internal controls to ensure accurate and complete financial results on
a monthly basis
External Audits
? Responsible for planning and preparations of annual external audits to be performed
? Ensure signed-off Annual Financial statements and submission of Tax returns after annual
audits
? Implement monthly and bi-annual procedures to ensure financial information are accurate
and ready for auditors to ensure a smooth audit process
Stakeholder Engagement
? Responsible for all stakeholder engagement such as ZRA, External Auditors, Financial
Institutions
Treasury
? Responsible for the Zambian group treasury function in line with the Group Guidelines
? Ensure optimal banking solution is in place in terms of service providers and services on
offer
? Ensure optimal Segregation of Duties are built into selected banking system
? Ensure accurate and timeous submission of cash flow results and forecasts in line with
the Group requirements
Working Capital
? Manage Working Capital at optimal levels to preserve cash flow

Project Management

? Assist Director Zambia in evaluating project viability throughout various stages of project
identification and implementation phases
? Implement approved project structures in Sage for reporting purposes
? Ensure timeous project reporting in line with the Group Guidelines
Direct and Indirect Tax Matters
? Ensure up to date knowledge of all Direct and Indirect Taxes in Zambia and determine the
effect on group results and cash flow
? Ensure financial team members are fully trained on all applicable taxes and impacts on
business
? Ensure timeous submission of all applicable returns and ensure detailed reconciliations are
performed and reported on
Financial Management
? Based on approved policies and procedures, implement strategies at each operation and
project to ensure roles and responsibilities are well defined
? Ensure team members are well trained and informed of expectations
? Implement month-end schedules together with detailed requirements for each section to be
completed
? Ensure accurate and up to date financial results are reported on a monthly basis according
to the month-end schedule
? Ensure policies and procedures are aligned with IFRS requirements
Group Budgets and Forecasts
? Custodian of annual budgets in line with the Group Guidelines
? Custodian of monthly forecasts for each operation and project in Zambia
Resource Management
? Determine optimal resource requirements per operation and project and submit
motivations for additional resource requirements (Resources to include employees, systems
and assets)
? Implementation of Performance Management of team members
Information Technology
? Responsible for all IT related matters for the Zambian group of companies
? Liaise with the Group IT to ensure alignment in terms of implementing any systems,
policies and procedures
