WE ARE RECRUITING;

1.Royal Zambia Airlines-Airline Commercial Manager.

This role will be key to developing and building the Royal Zambian Airlines business across Southern African region with the aim of stimulating passenger growth and to encourage business from other airlines. Working with travel agents and distributors aiming to maximize passenger revenue and to reduce cost of sale.

2.Royal Zambian Airlines Commercial Department is managed within ROYAL AIR CHARTERS LTD.

Royal Zambian Airlines Commercial team whose main purpose is to control and coordinate the Airline Commercial strategies, commercial contracts, code share agreements, interline agreements , Reservation system and commercial functions associated with the Airline website and payment platform.

The Airline Commercial Manager shall lead a team to coordinate all airline passenger bookings on VRS,DPO payments, Back office coordination, Advanced Passenger Processing ,SITA and INK DCS, ZACL/JNB CUTE/CUSS monitoring for RZA flights only.

The Airline Commercial Manager shall also coordinate Royal Zambian Airlines staff who are intertwined with charter department but prevent work overload and overlap on staff.

  • Traffic Officer/Dispatch
  • Reservation Assistant(Bookings,CUTE/CUSS/RAMP)

Airline Commercial departments works closely managing sales with the Royal Zambian Airlines accountant.


Duties and Responsibilities.

Some of the responsibilities and duties of the Commercial manager can be detailed as:

  • Implementation of strategies to achieve company targets across the region

The key roles and responsibilities of the Commercial Manager role are, but not limited to:

  • Coordination with Royal Air Charters Contracts and Ground Handling Manager.
  • Airline sales Management and liaison with different accounting platforms.
  • Leading and directing negotiations on contractual Terms and Conditions with new and existing customers, minimizing liability for the Company, and maximizing profit.
  • Specific responsibility for a portfolio of contracts
  • Liaising with the Value Stream colleagues and customers during the preparation of bids and quotations to ensure a speedy response to enquiries likely to lead to contract award
  • Managing the Company Tender Vetting and Contract Acceptance approvals
  • Identifying and addressing contract changes, and settling all liability issues affecting operations, as they arise
  • Providing advice to the value stream on the best commercial practices to be adopted to achieve their business objectives
  • Summarizing key Terms and Conditions, risk and reward for presentation to broader audiences
  • Ensuring compliance with Divisional and Corporate Frame Work and Contract Policy
  • Provision of market intelligence for the reservation system and teams
  • Manage relationships with the regulatory bodies to maintain continuity of operations across routes
  • Development of new business of sourcing of new opportunities for the airline
  • Managing the Reservations systems and coordination with linked GDS
  • Managing Interline and Code share partners
  • Managing all RZA associated travel agents on VRS

This position requires someone with strong experience within commercial management for an airline, or within the travel industry, with at least 5 years in a similar role. It goes without saying that you will be a strong communicator, and are able to recognize trends and develop market strategies

General Manager and Director of Operations-Royal Air Charters and Royal Zambian Airlines


Qualifications :-

  • Diploma in Marketing, or Sales Management or a filed related Degree is as an advantage.
  • A minimum of 5 years experience in a recognized Airline Commercial or Reservations departments is a MUST.
  • IATA/UFTA Diploma is an advantage
  • Experience/Certification in any GDS
  • Experience/Certification in Videcom Reservation System
  • Experience/Certification with payment systems such DPO or point of payment platform.
  • Proven background and recognized work experience with both Local and international Travel agents.
  • A sound Knowledge of IATA/ICAO/ZCARS
  • Previous DG certification
  • Previous CRM training
  • Previous SMS training
  • Computer Reservations Software Knowledge is a MUST.
