Adexen was mandated by a leading International company to recruit a General Manager Power Plant for its operations. The position is based in Zambia.

Responsibilities

• Oversee the activities of the power plant including operations, maintenance and health and safety.
• Ensure the occupational health and safety of all the individuals working in the power plant.
• Overall responsibility for the environmental management and compliance with laid down company policy.
• Oversee the operations of the power plant ensuring the power plant is operated and maintained in accordance with operation manuals and company standards.
• Ensure all O & M activities is compliance as per the contractual agreement with Thermax (3rd Party)
• Execution of power Export contract
• Ensuring the procurement of all power plant spare parts required for smooth operation and overhauls.
• Ensuring cost of power production as per the budget and AF Consumption as part of cost saving initiative.
• Coordination and implementation of management plans for the plant performance and cost saving projects.
• Oversee the planning of all power plant maintenance activities and operation in line with plant requirements.
• Perform any other duties as may be assigned by the Plant Director from time to time.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related discipline
• Minimum of 10 years demonstrated operating experience along with maintenance knowledge in large power plants.
• Experience in Coal based power plant is a must.
• Evidence of the operation of power generation plants with high level of output, availability and efficiency.
• Commercial acumen and experience regarding how to maximise the financial returns of the project including the ability to manage contracts effectively and to compile and manage budgets and operating costs.
• Leadership ability and strong management skills.
• Good data gathering, analysis and presentation skills
• Baseline problem analysis and solving skills.
• Creativity and an ability to think out of the box.
