Consultant – Data analysis and Case-based Surveillance Analyst

Reports to Head Strategic Information. The incumbent will work in the Strategic Information Department. He/she will provide technical assistance to research and programmatic data analysis, report writing and information dissemination. For the duration of the consultancy, the He/she will work very closely with the Programmes, Research, Implementation Science and Analysis Departments. The incumbent will represent the department at various stakeholder meetings and other various meetings as assigned.

Main duties

  • Devise data management and analysis plans, ensure that implementation of programmes and research activities conform to approved protocol
  • Devise performance monitoring and data dissemination plans
  • Devise visual representation of performance and analytical findings
  • Provide Technical Assistance and capacity building to internal and external stakeholders
  • Lead the writing of monthly project based bulletin reports, and epidemiological reports
  • Communication and discussion of analytical outputs with internal and external stake holders
  • Develop and adhere to data analysis plans and ensure their timely implementation.
  • Supervise project teams and members of the SI department as assigned
  • Actively participate in research activities that include research paper publications and research idea formulation
  • Actively participate in departmental and organizational activities that include grant writing and strategic planning


  • At least a Master’s in Epidemiology, Statistics, Mathematics, Public Health or any relevant field with a minimum of 5 years working experience
  • Or. Bachelor of Science in the above fields with at 10 years of work experience
  • A doctorate degree will be an added advantage
  • Posses a excellent statistical skills
  • Very proficient in at least one statistical software – R, STATA, SAS, etc
  • Experience working in HIV programmes
  • Experience creating GIS maps will be added advantage
  • Ability to work independently, exercise discretion and independent judgement in the execution of duties
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work with a diverse team of experts, with varying academic and cultural backgrounds
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
