The Lusaka South Multi-Facility Economic Zone Limited (LS MFEZ) was established by the Government of the Republic of Zambia as a State Owed Enterprise under the Ministry of Commerce, Trade and Industry with a mandate to develop, operate and manage Zambia’s only state-owned economic zone, the Lusaka South Multi-Facility Economic Zone. The company is registered under the Companies Act and commenced operations in 2012.

The Lusaka South Multi facility Economic Zone Seeks to recruit a qualified and experienced Zambians to fill the position of Civil Engineer to be based in Lusaka.

Job Purpose

To manage water and sanitation services and supervision of design and contract of infrastructure.

KEY RESULT AREA

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES (MAIN DUTIES)

RESOLVED ENGINEERING CUSTOMER COMPLAINTS.

Provides technical advice and coordinates the resolution of engineering complaints within service standards.

OPERATION-MAINTENANCE OF INFRASTRUCTURE

Prepares/Implements operations and maintenance plans for the zone to enhance service delivery and manages water distribution network, manages all sewerage related works, roads and drainages, carries out network verifications and repairs to ensure equitable distribution of water in the zone.


PROCESSED NEW WATER-SEWER, ELECTRICAL APPLICATIONS

Investigates new electrical, water and sewer applications to ensure that they are processed within the stipulated time. Coordinates electrical, water and sewer connections of paid-up customers.

REDUCED NON-REVENUE WATER (NRW)

Implements approved activities that enhance reduction of Non-Revenue Water and billing. Co-ordinates meter management and installations to accurately quantify water supplied and consumed by customers.

DESIGNS & TORs FOR WATER-SANITATION, STRUCTURES AND ROADS

Documents all network extensions for water and sanitation, roads, structures and drainages for updating in CAD and GIS. Examine plans and specifications of proposed constructions, additions and/or alterations to buildings to determine compliance.

BUILDING INSPECTION AND COMPLIANCE

Inspect all buildings during various stages of construction to ensure compliance with approved plans and standards. Produce stage inspection reports. Inspect existing buildings and premises for compliance with applicable standards. Liaise with contactors on applicable standards in LSMFEZ.

REPORTS

Prepares reports on construction/building activities and status of buildings/ infrastructures. Prepares reports on water and sanitation material schedules, routine inspection sheet and recommends to superior to outsource or not as well as status of infrastructure.

HEALTH AND SAFETY

Maintain an awareness of all health and safety rules applying to all maintenance, construction works, and tools used to ensure that safe working practices are observed.

POLICIES

Implementation of technical policies and programmes of the LS-MFEZ.

MANAGEMENT OF STAFF

Manages and encourages staff, optimizes their outputs and effectively manages relationships in order to achieve organizational goals.

ANY OTHER DELEGATED REASONABILITY

Carry out any other duties as may be delegated to him/her by the supervisors.


Minimum Qualifications, Experience and Attributes

Applicants must have the following

  • A full grade 12 or equivalent with five(5) credits including Mathematics and English
  • A minimum of a Diploma in Civil Engineering/Mechanical/Water Engineering or Equivalent
  • Must be a member of the Engineering Institute of Zambia (EIZ)
  • A clean valid driving license (atleast 2 years)
  • 4 years of working experience
  • A good understanding of water and sanitation operation principles
  • Good technical and fault resolution skills
  • Good communication skills
  • A positive attitude
  • Must exhibit good initiative
