Area Lead – Government Relations

  • GENERAL INFORMATION
  • Position Title: Zambian Area Lead
  • What are the day to day responsibilities of the position? 1. Overall Purpose
  • ? To ensure that Alistair entities operating in Zambia are not “blocked” by any government related cause and to ensure a positive working relationship with government officials
  • ? To manage liabilities to ensure legislative compliance and achievement of best practice to meet Corporate objectives to the ultimate goal of providing
  • ? Build a systematic approach to resolving issues and effective lobbying
  • ? Ensure compliance with company policies and procedures and relevant Zambian legislation.
  • ? To always operate within the Group’s strict anti-corruption policies
  • ? To promote continual improvement, humility and safety across the Group.
  • 2. Accountabilities & Responsibility Areas
  • ? Working closely with public affairs, government officials and internal stakeholders.
  • ? Supporting the monitoring of legislative developments and internal company policies and procedures affecting the business environment.
  • ? Overseeing the Government regulations.
  • ? Monitoring the regulatory environment on potential logistics regulations.
  • ? Ensuring the smooth running of our operations with the government officials.
  • 3. Health, Safety & Environment.
  • ? Actively support Alistair Group health, safety & environment policies and procedures.
  • What other groups within the organization will the individual interface with? All

  • IDEAL CANDIDATE PROFILE
  • Education
  • Any certifications or training required?
  • 4. Formal Training/Education/ Experience
  • University graduate with at least 3 years relevant experience with solid knowledge of government functions and policies.
  • 5. Knowledge & Skills
  • ? International exposure.
  • ? Possess a good network of contacts
  • ? Excellent communication skills, analytical skills and planning ability.
  • ? Excellent command of English and Bemba, both spoken and written.
  • Years of experience: 5+ years experience, at least 3 of which in a similar posotion
  • Mandatory or preferred requirements:
  • Managerial experience required?
  • Yes – 3+ years
  • Skills (soft and hard): Negotiation, Customer Focus, Lobbying
  • Specific product/industry knowledge required/desired?
