The Building Climate Resilient Rural Communities in Zambia project is aimed at enhancing the capacity of communities with a particular focus on women and girls, in the rural district of Chisamba, to adapt and become resilient to the impacts of climate change. The project is conducting a beneficiary selection process for would be beneficiaries on the Five Green enterprises namely Bee Keeping, Poultry, piggery, Fish Farming and Gardening.
Number of beneficiaries per Green Enterprise is based on a total of 400 targeted beneficiaries as indicated in the approved Project Proposal.
Plan International Zambia wish to extend its invitation to participate in the request for proposals for the construction and installation of fish Cages:
Fish Cage Specifications
A. Cage Frame
Main Cage Frame : 50mm x 50mm x 1.2mm thick square tubes or Use of 50mm x 50mm x 1.2mm thick Angle lines
Hand rails and safety features : 30mm x 30mm x 1.2mm Square tubes
Walk way : Expanded wire Gauze
Part Moorings : Double rimed 210l plastic drums
Safety features : 30mm x 1.2mm flat bars securing of moorings
B. Netting Cage Bags and attachments
Part Juvenile Netting bag
Braided Knotless 8mm – 12mm P.E/ cotton Kapenta nets measuring 5m x 5m x 6m note 1m in the depth as jump or free board
Part Production netting bag
Braided Knotless 25mm polythene net measuring 5m x 5m x 6m note 1m in the depth as jump or free board. The net should have 0.8m – 1m netting to act as a feed trap. Netting to be mounted with net mesh in squared shape to ensure maximum water exchange
Predator control netting bag
Braided Knotted 25mm -50mm P.E Nettling measuring 6m x 6m x 5m. Netting to be mounted with net mesh in squared shape to ensure maximum water exchange
Braided Knotless 15 -25 mm polythene net measuring
21 ply twine 10mm ropes for bird netting, 12mm for Juvenile, production and predator netting and cable ties for securing the bird net. Netting anchors to ensure well spreading of the netting materials
C. Moorings and attachments
Moorings and anchorage system
Double rimed 210l plastic drums encased in metal frame 18mm rope attachment for cage to mooring drums then to concrete anchor. Anchors weighing 80 -150 Kg made with concrete with Y12 metal bars as reinforcement
Number of cages to be constructed: 6
Size per cage: 5 x 5 x 6 metres
Location for Cage installation: Lifwambula Village (Mutenga Dam), Chikonkomene Ward, Chisamba District.
All applicants should provide the following documentations:
• ZPPA certification
• Company registration certificate
• VAT Tax Registration and Tax Clearance Certificate
• No pending litigation status that would negatively affect this contract
• The selected contractor/vendor will also be required to provide a Bank bond.
