Calling for Legal Volunteers in Kapiri Mposhi, Ndola, and Kitwe.
The mission of Undikumbukire Project Zambia (UP Zambia) is to support juveniles in conflict with the law by providing legal representation, social support and advocacy.
In keeping with this mandate UP Zambia, in conjunction UNICEF, is calling for legal volunteers to assist with a project that will support the implementation of the National Diversion Framework.
*Law Degree (LLB) or should be in third year of law school.
*Knowledgeable on legal rights and procedure for juveniles
*Conversant in English and any local dialect
*Available to volunteer twice a week over a period of 4 months
*Resides in Kapiri Mposhi, Ndola, or Kitwe Volunteer
1. Be assigned a police station to constantly check on Juveniles that are in conflict with the law and detained at police stations for purposes of diversion 2. Prepare a weekly report on the intake of juveniles both at police stations and at correctional facilities
3. Sensitize the community about the benefits of diversion and alternative dispute resolution 4. Share knowledge about COVID19 preventive measures
5. Provide legal education and legal information to children in police detention on issues such as Human Rights, Criminal Procedure, Police Bond, Alternative Dispute Resolution and Diversion.
