Call for Expression of Interest to On-Board Small Growing Food Processors on the Food Enterprises for a Developed Zambia (FED) Programme
Technoserve is an International Non-Governmental Organization headquartered in Virginia with operations in 29 countries including Zambia. We work with enterprising men and women in the developing world to build competitive businesses, farms and industries. TechnoServe Zambia is implementing a three-year project with support from the Swedish International Development Corporation Agency (Sida). The Food Enterprises for a Developed Zambia (FED) programme has the mandate to contribute to the improved efficiency, profitability and growth of small and medium food processing enterprises which will lead to a stronger and more resilient food processing sector in the country.
Among its core deliverables, the FED programme will work to increase revenues and marketable volumes and create or retain jobs for 100 SME food processing enterprises, 50% of which will be led or owned by women. It is envisaged that the project will also impact other beneficiaries indirectly including value chain retailers, customers, suppliers and their employees and family members of each
In order to achieve its objectives and results, the programme will carry out three main activities: 1) sector wide training (SWTs): 2) customized business and technical assistance and 3) access to finance. These activities will improve the efficiency, profitability and growth of food processing SMEs and contribute to a stronger and more inclusive sector
Selected enterprises will be taken through a rigorous customized technical assistance programme. Businesses that successfully complete the technical assistance may be eligible to receive in-kind grants to cushion business related expenses.
