Profile
Yara Fertilizer Zambia Limited Is Looking to Fill The Permanent Position Of An Agronomic Field Technician For The Small Scale Department In Zambia
Area: throughout Zambia.
Living location: flexible, but ideally based in Lusaka.
Supervisor: Sales Coordinator; Small Scale.
Eligibility: Zambian Nationals, Residence or Work Permit holders.
Communication: Fluent written and spoken English, with an understanding of local languages being an advantage.

Role and Responsibilities Below
To support the Yara Zambia Small Scale Sales Team with agronomic information on crop nutrition and protection on all Yara products, under the guidance of the Sales Coordinator, to fulfil BU strategy requirements of continued Small Scale support within the Southern Africa Region.
Agronomic Support
• Continuous product and crop training to internal and external sales personnel.
• Conduct scalable demos with local stakeholders to establish information on the effectiveness of Yara fertilizer demonstration results and transform the information gathered into powerful marketing tools to support continued Small Scale sales.
• Ensure proper documentation of all key stages of crops’ life cycles; planting, weeding topdressing, plot signages.
• Interpret soil reports and offer appropriate fertilizer recommendation to Small Scale farmers.
• Plan and develop fertilizer treatment and application protocols for Small Scale crop shows and field days.
• Promote activities of farmers meeting/ training in coordination with Agronomic Dealers.
• Follow up partnerships projects with NGOs, Seed Companies, Agricultural Institutions.
Customer Relations
• Develop and maintain industry contacts and networks.
• Oversee and meet sales targets set for country wide Agronomic Dealer network.
• Plan and undertake frequent visits to Small Scale farms and customers to assess their nutrient status and build up specific fertilizer programs to maximize crop yield and quality.
• Manage customer complaint handling process and ensure customers are served to expectation.
• Marketing and proactive action
• Contribute to Zambia Cluster marketing initiatives.
• Gather market intelligence in trading hotspots and identify specific market niches suitable for Yara Own Produced Product (OPP) placement.
Reporting and Record Keeping
• To report immediately to Sales Coordinator any serious incidents which may affect Yara positively or negatively.
• Timely submission of weekly, monthly and ad hoc activity reports as required by the Sales Coordinator.
• Timely reporting to Sales Coordinator of activities and incidences which may affect Yara positively or negatively.
• To maintain continuously updated agronomic records per customer (farmers and dealers) per area.

• Contribute to Data Privacy for the Small Scale Customer information and ensure compliance to the Yara Data Privacy principles.
• Contribute to lawful and ethical business processes in accordance to best practices and policy compliance i.e. HESQ and Ethics and Compliance.
• Contribute to the Yara Mission and Values amongst internal and external stakeholders.
• Business Expertise, Leadership and Problem Solving
• Ability to identify Customer plant nutritional requirements, contribute to Strategy planning for meeting sales objectives and targets and understand Distributor contractual agreements.
• Support role for Small Scale Sales Representatives.
• Self-directed action/undertaking of agreed weekly schedules and plans.
• Contribution of solutions to the day to day challenges of the Small Scale department, in collaboration with the Commercial Agronomist and Sales Coordinator.

Qualifications
• Qualification in Agronomy, Business and Marketing or previous experience within Yara, preferably with tertiary and related business courses.
• Minimum 02 years’ successful work experience in a similar position, with previous position exposure to Yara being an advantage.
